Past Editions

2021

Austria / 11 participants/ 14 days

The first edition of Resonant Bodies took place with a close group of friends who shared a similar inquiry. Within this setup, we began with a co-facilitated program; every participant offered a workshop. The main focus during these two weeks was to research what togetherness meant to us: What it consists of and how different groups/constellations can discover differences.

The daily program was curated from an in- to an outside focus: With the mornings focused on the self, the afternoons on the group and the evenings on the environment. A leading research question was: ‘Where are the individual and collective in- and outside borders? Before the residency, we maintained a permaculture garden and built a mobile kitchen to be able to cook everywhere.

2022

Georgia / 13 participants / 13 days

During our 2021 Residency Ninutsa Shatberashvili joined our core team and helped us to bring our residency format to Georgia. Hence did the second edition occur in Bakurtsikhe, close to the Caucasian mountains. Here, we chose participants consciously through an open call. Through this open call we selected six internationals from the Netherlands, Germany, Brazil, Italy, and Slovenia, and 6 Georgian makers and thinkers. Together we stayed for 12 days in an old winery with a lot of space.

The 2022 episode already focused more on the concept of embodiment, communication and cultural discourse. We kept the daily inside-to-outside rhythm, starting with yoga and meditation, over to circling into workshops. These workshops went from mapping over to all the senses - such as listening, tasting, smelling and singing- and finished with artistic practices, like drawing, cooking and dancing. Through the artistic co-creative and collaborative process, we hoped to expose dynamics such as shared leadership and decision-making. The program was defined only a day ahead, to leave space for spontaneous emergence. This edition ended with a group exhibition at the Obscura Platform space in Tbilisi.

In retrospect, this residency became more about intercultural exchange and -understanding than expected.

2023

Georgia / 12 participants / 13 days

Starting from last year's point of departure, that our residency format explores cultural exchange through co-creative processes, we were granted funding from the Goethe Institute to execute our project again. Hence, this edition was even more focused on the social, political and cultural differences. Since our core member, Ninutsa, is part of the art scene of Georgia, we aimed to make the outcome even more sustainable. This informed our decision to select participants related to local communities and invited Georgian collectives to work with us. This aimed to connect to real problems within the art scene of Georgia: “communities/ collectives are challenging to maintain, where individualism tears groups apart.“
Therefore, we designed a program about community building and all the aspects that belong to it: Shared leadership, (non-violent) communication skills, active listening and collaborative decision making.

With a final presentation at the young Kurtorti collective, we exhibited our outcomes in combination with a hosted supra (in Georgian traditions, a big feast).
