Past Editions
2021
Austria / 11 participants/ 14 days
The first edition of Resonant Bodies took place in Austria, Jakobs hometown, with a close group of friends who shared a similar inquiry. Within this setup, we began with a co-facilitated program; every participant offered a workshop. The main focus during these two weeks was to research what togetherness meant to us: What it consists of and how different groups/constellations can discover differences.
The daily program was curated from an in- to an outside focus: With the mornings focused on the self, the afternoons on the group and the evenings on the environment. A leading research question was: ‘Where are the individual and collective in- and outside borders? Before the residency, we maintained a permaculture garden and built a mobile kitchen to be able to cook everywhere.

2022
Georgia / 13 participants / 13 days
In 2022, our dear friend and food artist Ninutsa Shatberashvili joined our core team and played a key role in bringing the residency format to Georgia. Thanks to her deep connections and care, we were able to collaborate meaningfully with local communities. This second edition took place in Bakurtsikhe, near the Caucasus mountains. We selected 12 participants through an open call—six from Georgia, six from international contexts (Netherlands, Germany, Brazil, Italy, Slovenia)—and spent 12 days in an old winery.
This edition explored embodiment, cultural discourse, and collective creativity. Mornings included meditation and movement; afternoons unfolded into collaborative workshops exploring listening, mapping, cooking, drawing, singing, and more. The program was co-created daily to leave space for emergence. The residency concluded with a group exhibition at the Obscura Platform in Tbilisi.
In retrospect, it became a rich field for intercultural exchange and mutual understanding.

2023
Georgia / 12 participants / 13 days
Building on the insights of the previous year, the 2023 edition continued in Georgia, again co-hosted with Ninutsa Shatberashvili, whose presence and perspective shaped the process. With support from the Goethe Institute, we focused more deeply on the dynamics of collectivity, especially in the context of Georgia’s evolving cultural landscape.
We invited local Georgian collectives alongside international participants, creating a shared learning space on themes of community care, shared leadership, conflict navigation, and collaborative creation. This year’s residency also included a final presentation and supra (Georgian-style communal feast) hosted in collaboration with the emerging Kurtorti collective. The experience underlined the delicate work of co-creating across cultural difference while honoring rootedness and reciprocity.

This year’s edition is being held in Germany and hosted by three of us. While Ninutsa is not actively involved in this edition due to her focus on political and personal urgencies in Georgia, she remains a beloved and integral part of our journey. Her contributions continue to shape the DNA of Resonant Bodies, and we carry her presence into this unfolding with deep respect and care.
